I know this is a little late, but based on the ridiculous snail speed of the VB, this is the first time I scrutinized my I-485 receipt and the USCIS online case check.
I, like a lot of others, got my I-140 approved, and then slipped in my I-485 application during the July VB fiasco of 2007.
I have a PDF of the FedEx delivery receipt/signature that it was delivered to the USCIS on July 28th, 2007, a Saturday
On my Receipt, it says the "Received Date" is July 30th, the Monday. I am not going to dispute that 2 days, especially since it was a Saturday.
BUT when I go online to check my case status through the USCIS website, it says
On September 5, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.
Do i need to be concern?
I maybe being silly here, but I'd appreciate anyone that can answer my question. I mean, their computer is saying they got my package on September 5th! This doesn't even make sense, cos the July VB fiasco window was over by Aug 15th back in 2007!
Also, just so I know, anyone got their July VB packaged delivered on a Saturday but got a receipt date for the Monday after? (I'll feel a little better if I know I am not cheated here)
Now, i can get back to being grumpy about the VB retrogression/non-movement saga of 2009.

All of IV's funds have been used to pay for lobbying, advertising on rediff(not anymore), organization registration, mailbox, domain name registration mainly.
Travel, food, rental cars, hotels for core groups members is not being charged to immigration voice's account and its coming from out-of-pocket of core group.

I know that an amonut of 100K is nothing in trying to bring attention to our cause, but you guys have sure come a long way.

I wish I had applied for the EAD. I'm not sure what to do about the DL (we're indeed in CA). I'll try with the DMV and see if they'll renew without the EAD.

W"oaaa thats a col idea man -- the UI is a bit hard to use - especially for clients with no design app experience-- maybe u need to lead people thru the coices-- eg first choose a page layout, pick one of these.. now ...... something like that ..

Dear IV Friends,
Does any one know how much time DOL takes to reply on PERM Withdrawal application. I filled for my labor application in i think JUN/JUL 07 than it got audited, after sending audit reply it got denied in APR 08. I told my company not to apeal this case but they did. After pushing hard to file a new PERM now we are waiting for the earlier PERM application to be withdrawn (the one that was appealed). Everybody waits for there PERM approval, I-140 or 485 but the strange fact is i am waiting for my PERM to be withdrawn so i can file a new one.
Please help if someone has any idea about the time taken to withdraw a PERM application.

If the application was filed by mail, a withdrawal request, in writing, must be sent to the National Processing Center to which the application was originally submitted.
Question: Must the employer wait to receive confirmation of withdrawal from a Backlog Elimination Center (BEC) prior to refiling an application?
No, the employer does not need to wait to receive confirmation of withdrawal prior to refiling an application.

Such are the erratic ways of USCIS that we are all in the paranoid zone. When you get the unexpected (i.e. paper mail and no online approval) it does make us wonder and asntonished. There is an old Turkish proverb "When you burn your lips drinking hot milk you start blowing on your yogurt"

Yes. Printed the status of pending with timestamp.. I just checked case tracking website and still shows pending.
The biggest frustration is we have lost 2 years due to lack of information.
Would contacting IO using InfoPass be a issue here? My attorney does not want to contact IO, as he is afraid that might confuse the case..

I am on H4 visa. Applied for 485 in june 2007 and got my EAD and AP last month.
Unfortunately I also applied for H1 visa in march 2007, and it got approved now. I told the employer that I will work on EAD and don't need my visa.
He is now blackmailing me to pay the amount or he will give negative feedback/comments/reason for me in H1 cancellation letter.
I didnot sign any agreement with him.
Note: H1B not started yet. It will start from oct 1st.
What is the H1 cancellation form/letter?
Does it have any impact on my Green Card Process? Please Advise.

have a US visa stamped and has not expired, they will not let you board a plane to UK.
If you have GC, then there is no need for transit visa. If you are on AP, then you will need transit visa.
I think in the 50s and 60s, an Indian passport holder could enter the UK based on holding a commonwealth passport. Wonder why that policy changed? ;)
